Sex Inequality and Income Inequality Are Linked

This article focuses on income inequality, but before we get started I thought I'd point out that wealth inequality (the ability to own property) and market inequality (the ability to get ahead in the market) is far worse and creates a much bigger social divide than income inequality.

Check this out...

I am passionate about wealth inequality, and I believe by fixing this you address a number of social problems that are more common in high inequality countries.

Having said that, income inequality and sex inequality are linked. Fix one and you help fix the other. If you reduce income/wealth/market inequality and you not only help reduce sex inequality, you also reduce crime, drug dependence, teenage pregnancies, racism and all the things that keep us divided (or so says a growing body of research including Keith Payne's 'The Broken Ladder: How Inequality Changes the Way We Think, Live and Die').

With lower inequality you can rebuild communities and help people to be less is isolated and alienated from others, which in turn creates a better environment for politics to be less divisive.

You can improve the situation in almost any issue you care about by making this one issue a focal point. In a world with less inequality there'd be fewer asylum seekers. Fewer terrorists.

Rather than running around putting band aids on a sinking ship (which is how I view most activism) I would suggest we slay the leviathan.
